En 1918, plus de 2 500 soldats et marins américains ont stationné à Rochefort dans deux bases et sont partis progressivement dès le début de l’année 1919. Cet article fortement documenté décrit cette présence un peu oubliée, et complète les informations données dans l’exposition 2016-2017 de la Société de Géographie consacrée aux étrangers à Rochefort en 1914-1918.

In 1918, over 2,500 American soldiers and seamen were stationed in two military bases. They left Rochefort in the first months of 1919. This extensively documented article provides interesting  jnformation on an almost forgotten episode of US military presence jn our city at the end of WW1. It is also a welcome addition to the collection of documents shown by Rochefort Geographical Society dealing with foreign nationals who lived here during WWI.
